Remembering Papa on his Birthday
Walter 08/18/18
Papa’s life had a lot of twists and turns, but nevertheless full of blessings. He was living in destitute as a child all the way to young adulthood. But because of his ever strong determination, to provide his future family a comfortable life, he persevered and was able to rise up against all odds. Papa loved us so much and willed his way to give us the best life can offer. We were his Big WHY. We were the reason why he worked so hard every single day. We were the reason why he became so successful in life and in business. I learned from this experience with Papa that, he, who has a WHY to live for can bear almost any HOW.

Papa seemed to know how to navigate no matter how complex the problem was, he somehow could always make things, which at first seemed impossible become possible. Papa did not predict his future, he created them. He’s a person who will not sit back and wait for things to happen, he makes it happen. He never whined, “I haven’t succeeded because I haven’t had the breaks”, he always creates his own breaks. These are just a few of his many attributes. Papa was and still my greatest inspiration. Thank you Papa for sharing all the life lessons, thank you for the love you showered upon us, thank you for bringing Mama to our life and most of all, thank you for being you, my dearest Papa. I love you and I miss you so much.
Today is your birthday, your first birthday with Mama and God. Although you are not with us physically, you are always in my heart. I will always remember you every single day for the rest of my life. I love you Pa. Happy 90th birthday.

This year 2019, Papa’s Lunar birthday falls on Aug-8 — Double “8”. Papa would have turned 91 today. We remember our teacher, our leader, our hero, our father this with a simple dinner at Papa’s favorite Restaurant – the Garden Cafe. We miss you Papa.

Picture of Papa in his (guessing) first car, a second hand 1956 Buick Riviera 4 Door Sedan.
504 remembered the car clearly. 504 “This Buick caught my fingers. Papa was driving this car with both of us (504 and 503) at the back seat, Mama sitting at the front seat.”
